About Condylostylus comatus (Loew, 1861)

Condylostylus comatus, also known as C. comatus, is a species of fly belonging to the family Dolichopodidae. This species is primarily found in the Eastern United States, and it is part of a diverse Neotropical genus. Male individuals of C. comatus can be identified by a row of hairs on their mid metatarsus and their pale genital appendages, which distinguishes them from similar species such as Condylostylus crinitus. Females of this species cannot be distinguished from similar species by their external appearance.
