About Combretum leprosum Mart.

Combretum leprosum, scientifically named Combretum leprosum Mart., is called mofumbo in Portuguese and asucaró in eastern Bolivian Spanish. It is a plant species belonging to the genus Combretum, and it can be found throughout the Amazon Basin. This plant contains combretastatin A-4. In most of rural eastern Bolivia, local communities have long preserved and encouraged the growth of these trees, and they primarily value the trees for the shade they provide.
