About Columella edentula (Draparnaud, 1805)
The shell of Columella edentula (Draparnaud, 1805) measures 2.5 to 3 millimeters, and rarely reaches up to 3.5 millimeters. It is cylindrical in shape with a conical apex, and has a yellow-brown to brown color. The aperture has no teeth, and the simple lip is thin. The shell has 5 to 6 whorls, rarely as few as 4.5 or as many as 7. The last whorl has the largest diameter of all whorls. The apex is more pointed than the apex of Columella columella. Compared to the similar species Columella aspera, the shell of Columella edentula is narrower and taller, and its shell sculpture is more irregular and finer. This species is found in Great Britain, Ireland, and Ukraine.
