About Colubrina asiatica (L.) Brongn.
Colubrina asiatica (L.) Brongn. has a vine-like growth habit, producing multiple stems that can reach 9 meters (30 feet) in length. Its branches bear simple, alternate, glossy leaves that are ovate with acuminate tips, measuring 3.7 to 13.7 centimeters (1.5 to 5.4 inches) long, with several prominent veins. Leaf margins are wavy or finely toothed (serrated). This species produces small, greenish flowers that grow in clusters in leaf axils, and blooming can take place year-round. Fruits are berry-like capsules 1.3 centimeters (0.51 inches) across, containing small gray seeds. The seeds can float and tolerate salt water, which enables this species to spread across oceans. These plants grow in full to partial sun on upland sites.
