About Colobochyla salicalis (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775
This section provides technical description and variation notes for Colobochyla salicalis Schiff., labeled as 71 b. The forewings are pale fuscous, finely dusted with whitish, giving them an overall grey appearance. The lines are ferruginous, edged with pale ochreous; the inner line is straight, while the outer and subterminal lines are somewhat curved inwards, with the subterminal line running into the apex. The hindwings are pale fuscous, darker towards the terminal edge, and bear a faint subterminal line. Forms of this species found in Amurland and Japan differ from the type: the Japanese form ab. cinerea Btlr. is greyer than the type, while the Amurland form ab. laetalis Stgr. is both much paler and slightly smaller. The larva is green, with yellowish segmental incisions, a green head, and black spiracles. The wingspan of this species is 26–30 mm.
