About Colluricincla rufogaster Gould, 1845

This entry originally references the little shrikethrush, also called little shrike-thrush, which has the scientific name Colluricincla megarhyncha. It is a passerine bird species belonging to the family Pachycephalidae. This bird is distributed across New Guinea, and the northern and eastern regions of Australia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. In one study of bird toxicity, two specimens of this species were tested. One tested specimen was found to have traces of batrachotoxins (BTXs), toxins similar to those found in the secretions of Central and South American poison dart frogs.
