About Collomia heterophylla Douglas ex Hook.
Collomia heterophylla Douglas ex Hook. is a flowering plant species in the phlox family, commonly called variableleaf collomia. It is native to western North America, ranging from British Columbia to Idaho to central California. It grows in several habitat types, including open areas on gravelly mountain slopes. This species is a hairy annual herb that grows a branching, erect stem. As its common name indicates, its leaves are variable in shape: lower leaves generally have several toothed lobes, while upper leaves sometimes have no lobes. The inflorescence is a cluster of flowers that grows from the top of the stem or from a leaf axil. An inflorescence can hold up to 25 flowers. Each flower has a star-shaped corolla at the end of an elongated tube. The corolla lobes are lance-shaped, and range in color from white to deep pink, with white bases.
