About Collomia diversifolia Greene

Collomia diversifolia Greene is a species of flowering plant in the phlox family, commonly known as serpentine collomia. This species is endemic to California, growing as part of the serpentine soils flora in the North Coast Ranges, ranging from the northern San Francisco Bay Area to Shasta County. It is a small annual herb that produces many branches bearing dark, lance-shaped leaves; the basalmost leaves have three small teeth. Both leaves and stems are covered in glandular hairs, ranging from a light to dense covering. The inflorescence is a cluster of several flowers, each around one centimeter wide. The star-shaped flower has pointed violet lobes with yellowish bases that meet at a purple throat.
