Just like other species in the Colletes genus, this bee constructs cells inside underground nests. These cells are lined with a polyester secretion, which gives the entire genus the common nickname "polyester bees". Colletes inaequalis acts as a pollinator for red maple trees, willow trees, and apple trees.
