About Colias behrii Edwards, 1863

Colias behrii, commonly known as Behr's sulphur or Sierra green sulfur, is a species of butterfly in the Pieridae family. It is endemic to California's Sierra Nevada, with a range extending from Tuolumne County in the north to Tulare County in the south. This butterfly has a wingspan that measures 35 to 42 mm, equal to 1.4 to 1.7 inches. Adult individuals are active and on the wing from July to August. Adult Behr's sulphur feed on flower nectar. The larvae of this species feed on plant species in the genus Vaccinium and on the species Gentiana newberryi.
