About Coleophora mayrella (Hübner)

Coleophora mayrella (Hübner) has a wingspan of 10–12 millimetres (0.39–0.47 in). It is a metallic green species of the genus Coleophora, and can be differentiated from related species by its black and white ringed antennae, which are heavily covered in bronze scales for the first two-fifths of their length. In comparison, Coleophora deauratella has grey antennae starting two-fifths of the way along their length, except for a white tip at the end. Adults of Coleophora mayrella fly both during the day and after dark. In western Europe, they are on wing in June and July; in North America, they are on wing from May to August.
