About Coenophila opacifrons Grote, 1878

Coenophila opacifrons, commonly known as the blueberry dart or plain-faced blueberry dart, is a moth species that belongs to the family Noctuidae. This species was first formally described by Augustus Radcliffe Grote in 1878. It is distributed in North America, ranging from Labrador and Newfoundland south to New Jersey, extending west across the boreal forest to eastern British Columbia, and reaching south into the mountains to southern Montana. The wingspan of adult individuals measures 32 to 38 millimeters. Adult moths are active on the wing from July to August, and the species produces one generation per year. The larvae of Coenophila opacifrons feed on Chamaedaphne calyculata, Vaccinium, and Myrica gale.
