About Coelophora saucia

Coelophora saucia is a ladybird species that belongs to the family Coccinellidae. This species is endemic to Asia, where it occurs naturally in India, Japan, and the Philippines. It has also been collected in the Indochinese Peninsula. It was introduced to Taiwan to control aphids of the superfamily Aphidoidea, which feed on Taiwan's sugar cane crops. The species was first described in 1850 by French entomologist Étienne Mulsant under the scientific name Lemnia saucia. Mulsant's description was based on specimens from the collections of Frederick William Hope and John O. Westwood held at the British Museum of Natural History.
