About Cochlodina laminata (Montagu, 1803)

Like all species in the family Clausiliidae, Cochlodina laminata has a clausilium, also called a "door". The second referenced image shows the specific shape of the clausilium for this species. The shell of Cochlodina laminata ranges in color from brown to cherry red, and it is nearly smooth and shiny. In this species, the parietalis is small, the columellaris is more prominent, the palatal callus is weak, and the subcolumellaris is visible when viewed at an oblique angle. The average weight of an adult live individual of this species is approximately 138 mg, with a margin of error of ±5 mg. This species is distributed across much of Europe, and also occurs in Russia and Ukraine.
