About Coccus viridis (Green, 1889)

This is a description of the scale insect Coccus viridis (Green, 1889). Adult individuals of this species are glossy pale green, with black internal markings visible through their chitinous body wall. They have a flattish, elongated oval dome shape, reaching approximately three millimetres in width. Their front end is rounded, while their rear end has a distinctive groove. Adults keep their legs and antennae, but mostly stay sedentary. Nymphs are flattish and oval, with a yellowish green colour and six short legs. Nymphs shed their skin three times, and each instar is larger and more convex than the previous one.
