About Coccinella transversalis Fabricus, 1781
The transverse ladybird, Coccinella transversalis Fabricus, 1781, measures between 3.8 and 6.7 millimetres (0.15 to 0.26 inches) in length, and between 3.3 and 5.45 millimetres (0.130 to 0.215 inches) in width. This species shows very little physical variation across its entire broad geographic range. It has a black head, with elytra that are mostly bright red or orange. The elytra have distinct bold markings: a black band running along the midline, plus two separate three-lobed markings on the lateral sides.
