About Clinostomus funduloides Girard, 1856

The rosyside dace, scientifically named Clinostomus funduloides Girard, 1856, is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish belonging to the family Leuciscidae, which includes shiners, daces and minnows. This species reaches about 11 centimeters in total length. It gets its common name from the red coloration on the lower portions of its sides, while the upper portions of its sides are dark green. The rosyside dace is endemic to the United States, where it is native to parts of the southeastern and eastern country. Its native range covers the Delaware River drainage, the Savannah River drainage, and the Ohio River basin. Researchers believe this species has been introduced to western Virginia.
