About Climacteris rufus Gould, 1841
The rufous treecreeper, scientifically named Climacteris rufus Gould, 1841, measures 15 to 17 centimeters in total length. Its plumage is primarily gray, with a rufous (reddish-brown) face and breast, and a brown back. Male individuals have dark streaks on the breast, while female individuals have pale streaks on the breast. This bird species is distributed across southwestern Australia, ranging north to Shark Bay, and extends eastward through South Australia as far as the Eyre Peninsula. It prefers to live in open eucalypt forest and open eucalypt woodland habitats.
