About Cleonymia yvanii Duponchel, 1833
Cleonymia yvanii Duponchel, 1833, is a moth species with adults that vary in colour from ochre to greyish brown. Warren's 1914 description notes that this species is very similar to Cleonymia vaulogeri (Staudinger, 1899), with inner and outer lines that are similarly incurved and connected along the submedian fold. The orbicular and reniform stigmata are very small, with fuscous centres and greyish annuli, separated by a diffuse brown median shade. The submarginal line is grey and obscure, appearing whitish and oblique at the costa. The fringe is brown on its basal half and chequered on its outer half. The hindwing is fuscous, with a paler base. The taxon previously named korbi Stgr., now recognized as the separate species Cleonymia korbi, is paler than C. yvanii and lacks the black streak in the base of the forewing cell. C. yvanii is recorded from southern France and Spain. The larva is yellowish white, with red lateral lines and a dark, interrupted dorsal line. Larvae feed on the seeds of Helianthemum.
