About Clemensia albata Packard, 1864

Clemensia albata, commonly called the little white lichen moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Erebidae. It was first described by Alpheus Spring Packard in 1864. This moth is found in eastern North America, extending west across boreal Canada to southeastern British Columbia. Along the Pacific Coast, its range stretches south to Monterey Bay in west-central California. Its habitats include moist forests such as coastal rainforests, oak woodlands, and mixed hardwood forests. The forewings of this species measure 10–11 mm in length. Adult moths are active in flight from late June to early September. Adults have also been recorded feeding on algae.
