About Clematis versicolor Small

Clematis versicolor, commonly called pale leatherflower, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the buttercup family. It is a twining vine native to the Southeastern United States and the Ozark Mountains. Within its native range, it occurs in scattered calcareous regions, growing on limestone outcrops, in thickets, and in dry woods. It produces flowers during the summer. It can be told apart from similar-looking species by its white-waxy, generally hairless, leathery leaves, and its flowers that range in color from lavender to cream.
