Cleistesiopsis bifaria, commonly known as the smaller spreading pogonia, is a terrestrial orchid species native to the eastern United States. It is found along the Appalachian Mountains, ranging from West Virginia to Alabama. This orchid grows to a maximum height of 2 feet, which equals 0.61 meters. Its flower petals are white or rose-pink, marked with purple or pink venation. It inhabits savannas, wet meadows, and ridgetop pine or oak woodlands. Cleistesiopsis bifaria is threatened by fire suppression, habitat loss, and invasive species.
