About Clavicorona taxophila (Thom) Doty

Clavicorona is a fungal genus that belongs to the family Clavariaceae. Maxwell Stanford Doty circumscribed the genus in 1947, and originally included four species in it: C. pyxidata, C. cristata, C. taxophila, and C. candelabrum. In 1950, E.J.H. Corner added five additional species: C. candelabrum, C. colensoi, C. javanica, C. mairei, and C. tuba. Corner further added C. dichotoma to the genus in 1970. When James Dodd published his revision of Clavicorona in 1972, he listed a total of 11 species for the genus. However, the majority of these species have since been moved to other genera, most notably the genus Artomyces.
