About Clarkia davyi (Jeps.) F.H.Lewis & M.E.Lewis
Clarkia davyi (Jeps.) F.H.Lewis & M.E.Lewis is a species of flowering plant in the evening primrose family. It goes by the common names Davy's fairy fan and Davy's clarkia. This species is endemic to California, where it grows in coastal habitats including beaches and bluffs. It is an annual herb that produces a thin stem, which can grow along the ground or be somewhat upright. The stem is lined with small oval-shaped leaves that measure one or two centimeters long. Before the flower opens, its bud is enclosed in four fused thick sepals. When it blooms, it forms a small bowl-shaped corolla made of four pink petals, which often have lighter-colored bases. Each individual petal is 5 to 11 millimeters long.
