Cladonia cristatella Tuck., commonly called the British soldiers lichen or British soldiers cup lichen, is a fruticose cup lichen in the Cladoniaceae family. American botanist Edward Tuckerman first published the formal scientific description of this species in 1858. This lichen can be mistaken for other red-topped lichen species, including Cladonia leporina and Cladonia incrassata.
