About Cixius nervosus (Linnaeus, 1758)

Cixius nervosus reaches an adult body length of 6.5โ€“7.5 millimetres (0.26โ€“0.30 in) for males, and 7โ€“8.5 millimetres (0.28โ€“0.33 in) for females. These are large planthoppers that have three keels on the scutellum. Their front wings are transparent, with two dark brown bands, faint brown markings on the posterior portion, dark spots along the costal margin, and smaller spots on the wing veins. Adult Cixius nervosus can be found from May through October. This is a widespread species present in most of Europe, the East Palearctic realm, and the Nearctic realm. These common planthoppers inhabit deciduous trees, hedgerows, meadows, and scrublands.
