About Cistus crispus L.
Cistus crispus L. is a species that grows up to 50 cm (1 ft 8 in) tall. Its leaves are grey-green, wavy (undulate), and oblong to elliptical in shape. They usually measure 1โ4 cm (0.4โ1.6 in) long by 4โ15 mm (0.2โ0.6 in) wide, have three prominent veins, and are covered in a mixture of short stellate hairs and longer simple hairs. The flowers of Cistus crispus are arranged in few-flowered cymes. Individual flowers are 3โ4 cm (1.2โ1.6 in) across, with five purplish-red petals and five sepals covered in hairs. This species is native to north Africa and south-western Europe, including Portugal, Spain, France, Corsica, Italy and Sicily.
