About Cissus verticillata (L.) Nicolson & C.E.Jarvis

Cissus verticillata is a woody liana vine with long stems. It grows rooted in the wet soil of tropical forests, and typically climbs around other plants to form a dense canopy. This species has extrafloral nectaries. In historical folk medicine, the plant has been recommended for use to treat stomach weakness, fevers, and for its antiepileptic action. Its root bark was also chewed "to strengthen teeth".
