About Cirsium ×helenioides (L.) Hill

Note: Many authors previously considered Cirsium x helenioides (L.) Hill and C. heterophyllum (L.) Hill to be synonymous. However, Talavera & Valdes (in Lagascalia 5: 155 - 157, 1976) studied the type of C. x helenioides (966.36 LINN) and found it to be a hybrid between C. heterophyllum and C. rivulare (Jacq.) All. Since C. x helenioides and C. heterophyllum are not synonymous, C. x helenioides is the correct name for the original taxon.
