About Cirsium dissectum (L.) Hill
Cirsisum dissectum (L.) Hill grows between 15 and 50 centimeters tall. It looks like a more slender form of Cirsium heterophyllum, sharing a grooved, cottony stem and lanceolate leaves that bear prickles rather than spines. Unlike Cirsium heterophyllum, its leaves are narrower, measuring under 3 cm across, less hairy on their underside, and hairy on the upper surface. Its flower heads are 2 to 3 cm long, and hold dark red to purple florets. It flowers from June through August, and produces runners.
