About Cirrhilabrus lubbocki Randall & Carpenter, 1980

Lubbock's wrasse, with the scientific name Cirrhilabrus lubbocki, is a species of wrasse. It is native to coral reefs of the Philippines and the Indonesian island of Sulawesi; there have also been claims that it occurs in Malaysia, Japan, and Palau. It inhabits depths between 4 and 45 meters (13 to 148 feet), though it is rarely found deeper than 30 meters (98 feet). This species grows to a maximum total length of 8 centimeters (3.1 inches). It is available in the aquarium trade. The species is named in honor of Hugh Roger Lubbock (1951–1981), a marine biologist who collected the first specimen and suspected it was an undescribed species.
