Cinnamomum camphora, commonly known as camphor tree, grows to heights of 20–30 m (66–98 ft). In Japan, where it is referred to as kusunoki, there are five camphor trees with a trunk circumference exceeding 20 m (66 ft), the largest being Kamō no Ōkusu, which measures 24.22 m (79+1⁄2 ft). The leaves are glossy and waxy, emitting a camphor scent when crushed.
