About Cinclus pallasii Temminck, 1820

The brown dipper, with the scientific name Cinclus pallasii, is also commonly called Pallas's dipper, Asian dipper, or the Asiatic dipper. This species is an aquatic songbird that lives in the mountains of the east Palearctic. It has a thrush-like body shape and a habit of holding its tail cocked upward. Its plumage is overall chocolate-brown, with a slightly lighter back and breast. It measures 22 cm (8.7 in) long and weighs 87 g (3.1 oz), making it the largest species among all dippers. This not often seen species occurs at medium to low elevations alongside flowing mountain streams.
