About Cimbex quadrimaculatus (O.F.Müller, 1766)

Cimbex quadrimaculatus (O.F.Müller, 1766) is a large sawfly species. Adult individuals reach a length of approximately 19–21 millimetres (0.75–0.83 inches). Their bodies are dark brown to black, with broad yellow markings on the pronotum and abdomen. The wings are lightly tinted brownish, and the antennae are mostly orange, with darker scapes. The larvae of this species are whitish, with yellow and black markings. On average, larvae grow to around 20 millimetres (0.79 inches), and final-instar larvae can reach a maximum length of about 43 millimetres (1.7 inches). This species occurs in Europe and the Near East.
