About Cidnopus pilosus (Leske, 1785)
Adult Cidnopus pilosus grow to 8–13 millimetres (0.31–0.51 in) in length. Their pronotum is strong, densely punctured, and slightly wider than it is long. The elytra bear distinct striped rows of punctures. The third antenna segment is significantly longer than the second, and almost as long as the fourth. The front leg segments can be inserted into a groove on the inner edge of the prothorax. The species has a basic metallic black body color with a bronze luster, and the upper side of the body is covered in gray hairs. This species is found across most of Europe, the eastern Palearctic realm, and the Near East, and is absent from the British Isles. These beetles mainly live in heaths, open forests, meadows, hedgerows, and lower vegetation, and favor sunny environments.
