About Cicindela senilis G.Horn, 1867

Cicindela senilis G.Horn, 1867, commonly called the senile tiger beetle, is a species of tiger beetle that occurs in western California. Its habitats include tidal mud flats, and both coastal and inland salt marshes. Three subspecies of Cicindela senilis are currently recognized: Cicindela senilis senilis (G.H. Horn, 1867), Cicindela senilis exoleta (Casey, 1909), and Cicindela senilis frosti (Varas Arangua, 1928). Populations of the subspecies Cicindela senilis frosti have been recorded in a salt marsh at Lake Elsinore in Riverside County, California, and also in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and San Diego Counties, California.
