About Chytonix palliatricula Guenée, 1852

Chytonix palliatricula, commonly known as the cloaked marvel moth, is a species of moth in the family Noctuidae. This species was first formally described by Achille Guenée in 1852. It is native to North America, with recorded distribution ranging from southern Canada down to the Gulf Coast of the United States. Its range extends west into the Great Plains, reaching Nebraska and Oklahoma in the southern portion of this extension, and Alberta and British Columbia in the northern portion. Chytonix palliatricula is also found in Mexico, Guatemala, and Panama. The wingspan of adult individuals measures 28 to 33 mm. Adult moths are active in flight during late spring and summer. The larvae of this species are thought to feed on species in the grass family Poaceae.
