About Chthamalus montagui Southward, 1976

Chthamalus montagui, commonly known as Montagu's stellate barnacle, is a species of acorn barnacle. It is commonly found on rocky shores in South West England, Ireland, and Southern Europe. The vertical range of C. montagui overlaps with that of another acorn barnacle species, Chthamalus stellatus. Differences in the distribution of these two species' larval stages may explain why one species is more prevalent than the other at any given location.
