About Chrysotoxum festivum (Linnaeus, 1758)
Chrysotoxum festivum (Linnaeus, 1758) has an 8.25 to 12 mm wing length. Key identification features include a small, square, dark spot on the wing, two grey longitudinal stripes on the thorax, and normally a yellow spot on the katepisternum. Its distribution ranges from Fennoscandia south to Iberia and the Mediterranean basin, from Ireland eastward through Europe to Greece, Turkey and European Russia, then through Siberia to the Pacific coast. It is also found in Japan and North India.
