About Chrysotoxum arcuatum (Linnaeus, 1758)
Chrysotoxum arcuatum is a species of hoverfly. It has a widespread distribution across Britain and Ireland. It is much more common in the upland districts of northern and western Britain and Ireland, where it typically occurs at ground level close to woodland and moorland edges. Researchers believe that the larvae of this species feed on root aphids that are associated with ant colonies.
