About Chrysosplenium oppositifolium L.
Chrysosplenium oppositifolium L. is a small, slightly hairy, creeping plant with square stems. Its leaves grow in opposite pairs, are rounded or oblong in shape, and have blunt teeth. The tiny flowers reach between 3 and 4 mm in size, and are surrounded by bright yellow-green leafy bracts. This species flowers from March to July. It is native to Europe, specifically found in Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and former Yugoslavia. It was first described by Carl Linnaeus in 1753. This plant can tolerate low light levels as low as 24 lux. It prefers to grow in damp, shady places, most often along streamsides or in damp woodland.
