Chrysopogon gryllus (L.) Trin. is a perennial bunchgrass belonging to the family Poaceae. It is native to Europe, as well as tropical and temperate Asia. This grass reaches a height of 50–150 cm (20–59 inches). Its spikelets are grouped in sets of three: one fertile, unisexual spikelet, paired with two other staminal or incompletely developed spikelets. Its fruit is a caryopsis, commonly called corn seed here.
