Chrysopilus cristatus (Fabricius, 1775) is a species of snipe flies that belongs to the family Rhagionidae. This species can be found across most of Europe. Adult individuals of this species reach 6 to 8 millimeters in length. It resembles Chrysopilus erythrophthalmus, but is slightly smaller than that species. In this species, the femora are dark grey, while the tibia and metatarsus are yellow.
