Chrysis scutellaris Fabricius, 1794 grows to a body length of 6 to 9 millimetres (0.24–0.35 inches). The head and thorax of this species are greenish blue, while the scutellum and abdomen are mostly golden red. The rear edge of its third tergite has 4 teeth. These fairly common wasps occur across most of Europe and in North Africa, specifically in Algeria and Egypt. Chrysis scutellaris prefers warm, open, sandy habitats.
