About Chromosera cyanophylla (Fr.) Redhead, Ammirati & Norvell

Chromosera cyanophylla is a species of fungus belonging to the genus Chromosera, and it is the type species of this genus. In young specimens, the slimy cap and stem are yellow, while the gills have a violet or lilac color. This species grows in small groups on conifer wood, and it can resemble the species Gliophorus laetus. Its confirmed distribution covers Europe and Asia. While it was previously reported to occur in North America, all such old reports actually refer to two other separate species: Chromosera lilacifolia found in eastern North America, and Chromosera loreleiae found in western North America.
