About Chromodoris quadricolor (Rüppell & Leuckart, 1830)

Chromodoris quadricolor (Rüppell & Leuckart, 1830) is a species of very colourful sea slug. It is classified as a dorid nudibranch, a type of marine opisthobranch gastropod mollusc. Its specific epithet quadricolor translates to four-coloured, referencing that this nudibranch has four distinct colors: yellow, white, blue, and black. This dorid nudibranch was first described from specimens collected in the Red Sea, where it is one of the most common nudibranch species. It has also been recorded from other locations in the Western Indian Ocean. Ecologically, this species feeds exclusively on the red sponge Negombata magnifica (Keller, 1889).
