About Chromodoris aspersa (A.Gould, 1852)

Chromodoris aspersa, first described by A. Gould in 1852, has a white mantle covered with small rounded purple spots that have diffuse edges. An orange-yellow marginal band runs along the rim of its mantle, and its gills and rhinophores are marked with orange-yellow. Research has shown that this species forms a species complex, and additional work is required to clarify the distinct species within this group. This chromodorid nudibranch was first described from specimens collected at Kawahe, also known as Vincennes Island, in the Tuamotus. It is a widespread species found across the tropical Indo-Pacific region.
