About Chromodoris africana Eliot, 1904

Chromodoris africana Eliot, 1904 is a smooth-bodied nudibranch. This species can reach a maximum total length of 75 millimeters. Its body has a black base color, with two white lines running lengthwise down the notum. The notum has a white inner rim and an orange outer margin. Its gills and rhinophores range in color from yellow to orange. This species is distributed from the Red Sea and western Indian Ocean to the southern KwaZulu-Natal coast of South Africa. It can be found at depths up to 30 meters. Ecologically, C. africana feeds on sponges, and specifically consumes species from the sponge genus Negombata.
