About Chromocyphella muscicola (Fr.) Donk

Chromocyphella muscicola is a fungus species belonging to the family Hymenogastraceae. Its basidiocarps, also called fruit bodies, are cyphelloid and cup-shaped, reaching approximately 4 mm across. The upper surface of the fruit bodies is covered with fine hairs, while the underside is smooth. This species was first published under the name Cyphella muscicola by Elias Fries in 1822. In 1959, Marinus Anton Donk reclassified it into the newly established genus Chromocyphella, giving it the current scientific name Chromocyphella muscicola (Fr.) Donk.
