About Chondrostega vandalicia (Millière, 1865)

Chondrostega vandalicia (Millière, 1865) is a species of moth in the Lasiocampidae family. This moth is endemic to the Iberian Peninsula. Adult males of the species have grey wings, with a wingspan that measures roughly 15 millimetres (0.59 inches). These males are weak fliers, and they are active as flying adults from August to September. Females of Chondrostega vandalicia have reduced wings, and cannot fly at all. The species' larvae are present from November to April. Their primary food sources are grass species including Nardus stricta, Festuca, and Anthoxanthum aristatum, but they also feed on other low-growing plants such as Hypochaeris radicata.
